Pack Of 50Enough for a substantial run of fabric

11 gauge steel pins that go through fabric and stay put.

Galvanised 20 cm staples in packs of 50. For weed fabric, turf and anything the wind wants to move.

These are the heavy option for pinning things to the ground, and the one to choose when the nylon spikes are not enough.

11 gauge is 3 mm steel with sharp cut ends, which is what lets them go through woven weed barrier, plastic sheeting and heavy or stony soil without bending over.

At 20 cm they are long enough to hold against wind lift on fabric and turf, which is where short pins fail first.

Hot dipped galvanised rather than electroplated, so the zinc layer is thick enough that they come back out of the ground reusable rather than rusted solid.

Sold in packs of 50.

U-Shaped Garden Stakes (pack of 50)

There are two jobs people buy pins for, and they need different pins.

U-Shaped Garden Stakes (pack of 50)

Holding lightweight edging or fabric in soft, settled loam is a job for the nylon spiral spikes: nothing to rust and nothing to stain a path.

U-Shaped Garden Stakes (pack of 50)

Holding heavy woven fabric or turf, in clay or stony ground, or anywhere exposed to wind, is a job for these. Steel at 3 mm goes through material that turns a nylon spike, and the U shape spreads the hold across two legs instead of one shank.

U-Shaped Garden Stakes (pack of 50)

The galvanising is the detail that decides whether you get them back. Electroplated pins come out of wet ground rusted and one use only; hot dipped ones come out clean enough to reuse for years.

U-Shaped Garden Stakes (pack of 50)

One practical note: drive them at a slight angle away from the pull rather than straight down. A vertical pin lifts; an angled one has to shear the soil to move.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many are in a pack?

Fifty.

How long are they?

20 cm.

What gauge are they?

11 gauge, which is 3 mm steel.

Are they galvanised?

Yes, hot dipped, which puts a thicker zinc layer on than electroplating and is why they come back out of the ground reusable.

What are they for?

Pinning weed barrier fabric, artificial turf, sod, ground cover, plastic sheeting and garden or pet fencing.

How are they different from the plastic edging spikes?

These are steel and go through heavy woven fabric and hard or stony ground. The nylon spikes will not rust or stain paving but will pull through heavy fabric under load.

Will they rust?

The hot dipped zinc coating is there to prevent it. Knock the soil off before storing them rather than leaving them wet in a shed.

Can I reuse them?

Yes, that is the point of the galvanising. They pull out clean and go back in.

How far apart should I space them?

Roughly every 50 cm along an edge and at every overlap seam, closer where the ground is exposed to wind.

Should I drive them straight down?

Angle them slightly away from the direction of pull. A vertical pin lifts; an angled one has to shear the soil to move.

Will they go through stony ground?

That is what the 3 mm gauge is for. A lighter pin folds over.

Do I need a mallet?

A mallet or a hammer helps in firm ground. In soft soil they push in by hand.

Are they safe around a mower?

Drive them fully home so nothing stands proud, and keep them back from the mowing line.

Can I use them to hold down a hose or cable?

Yes, that is a common use, though bury or cover the run so nothing is a trip hazard.

Will 50 be enough for my project?

At 50 cm spacing a pack covers about 25 metres of single edge. A two metre wide fabric run pinned on both edges uses about twice that.

Do they come in other lengths?

This is the 20 cm size, which is the general purpose length for fabric and turf.

Can I use them in a raised bed?

Yes, for holding fabric or liner in place.

What if the ground is frozen?

Wait. Driving a pin into frozen ground bends the pin and tears the fabric.

How much is delivery?

Delivery anywhere in the United Kingdom is GBP 25, and it is free once your order reaches GBP 100. There is one delivery service rather than a choice of speeds.

How long does delivery take?

Five to seven days, after a 24 to 48 hour handling time while the order is picked and packed.

Do you deliver across the whole UK?

Yes, anywhere in the United Kingdom, including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Is there a minimum order?

No. The per metre and per section ranges are sold by the unit, so you can order one metre or one section if that is all you need.

Can I change my mind after it arrives?

Yes. As a consumer buying online in the UK you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Email us with your order number, then you have a further 14 days to send the goods back. Nothing we sell is made to your measurement, so that right applies to everything on this site.

What if the item is faulty or not what was described?

That is a separate and stronger right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and it runs for six years in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and five years in Scotland. You can ask for a repair, a replacement or a refund, and we pay the return postage.

Who pays return postage if I simply change my mind?

You do, unless the item is faulty or we sent the wrong thing.

Can I cancel before it ships?

Yes. Contact us with your order number as soon as you can. Most orders are picked within 24 hours, so the sooner the better.

How do I track my order?

You get a confirmation email with a tracking number once the order ships. Items in one order can travel in separate parcels.

What payment methods do you take?

Card payment and PayPal, both through a secure checkout. Card details are handled by the payment provider and never reach this site.

What currency are prices in?

Pounds sterling, GBP, and that is what your card is charged.

Do you sell to trade or in bulk?

Yes. Use the wholesale quote page with the lengths and quantities you need and we will come back with a price.
